About STEM Council

At STEMco, a big part of our mission is to promote and encourage STEM participation at MICDS. We are motivated and dedicated to commemorating the hard work of all our MICDS students in STEM. On our website, we provide events, programs, and weekly updates to inspire our community to get more involved.

Meet the Co-heads

Aishani

I'm Aishani (I'm on the right in the photo)! I'm a current junior at MICDS. One of the main stigmas we're really looking to get around is the idea that STEM should always be serious and tedious; the idea that STEM activities aren't "real activities" because they're academic. That profile photo up there was actually taken while we were at the St. Louis Zoo to interview zookeepers and patrons for TEAMS, which was probably one of my favorite STEM activity memories! Apart from STEM, piano, field hockey, food, and my family are very important to me. If you ever want to talk, feel free to shoot me an email or just find me somewhere on campus!

Nigina

Hi! I'm Nigina (the one on the left). I'm currently a junior and this is my 3rd year at MICDS. To add on to Aishani, we were also motivated to start STEMco because we wanted to raise awareness of and unite all of the individual mini-communities we have for all of our STEM programs and clubs into one big welcoming STEM family :)

As for STEM activities, I am mainly involved with TEAMS (click here to learn more!) When I am not at school, I am either playing violin, chess, or tennis, trying cool new foods & desserts, listening to music, or binge watching Netflix.

If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk, don't hesitate to contact me via email (naripova@micds.org) or Groupme!

Meet the Representatives

Lucas McCarty

My name is Lucas, and I am currently a senior. I joined STEMCO to further inclusion and communication among all of MICDS' wonderful STEM organizations. Since my freshman year, I have been involved in numerous clubs at MICDS, among them being RAMPAGE robotics and the programming club (which I now co-head). Outside of school, I am an avid emcee for tournaments hosted by  FIRST, a robotics organization. Additionally, I handle all technical development for an entity called MOtary Connections. If you're interested in programming, CAD, 3d-printing, or anything engineering related, feel free to reach out to me. I'd love to chat...

Sanchi Vishwakarma

Hey! I'm Sanchi (right), a current sophomore. I joined STEMCo this year because I absolutely love science and am planning to go into the medicine field in the future. I am part of the Science Olympiad team at MICDS and I volunteer to be a camp counselor over the summer and lead the STEM week. I used to be a part of the Underwater Robotics club at my old school. I also tutor in science and math in my free time (if I'm not obsessively watching shows like Grey's Anatomy, the Good Doctor, the Night Shift, etc.) If you ever need anything, feel free to reach out! I've linked ways to get in touch with me :)

Josh Darrish

Hello! My name is Joshua Darrish, an Upper School senior at MICDS. As the President of the Anatomy Club, I represent its members in the STEMCo to provide them with an equal voice alongside the other wonderful opportunities provided. Over the course of my 14 year long MICDS career, I have focused heavily on the aforementioned club, while also participating in medicine programs at Saint Louis University and UC Berkeley. As you can probably tell, I’m a fan of medicine! I look forward to serving the MICDS STEM community, so please reach out to me at any time!

Kareena Kanumury

Hey! I am Kareena, and I am so happy to be apart of STEMCO this year! I love science, and it is always fun to learn about new scientific facts here and there! I participated in Science Olympiad and Math Team last year and am the Co-head of an environmental club, Sustainable Futures. I love to help out my peers in math and science whenever I have the chance. Also, I am really into movies and documentaries, and I am binging The Good Doctor, Hanger 1, and Doomsday off of Hulu and Netflix. I would be happy to help if you have any questions, so feel free to reach out!

Happy Phatak

Hello! My name is Happy, and I am a sophomore. I joined STEMCO because I love our STEM community and all parts of the science department, I also just love how crazy cool science can be sometimes!  I am participating in Science Olympiad as well as many community service clubs as well as the community service committee and I hope to find a way to merge the two worlds here at STEMCO and create some more opportunities for everyone to get involved in new and fun ways!  I love hanging out with my friends and family, most importantly my dog Maple of course.  I love doing anything outdoors but I am always game to eat some popcorn and binge some tv! I am more than happy to answer any questions or help anyone out if they need it!
